Nick Compton: Facing fear in cricket's fast lane
Editor's note: This
piece was filed in the hours before Cricket Australia confirmed the
death of Phil Hughes. Nick Compton is a professional cricketer and was a
close friend of the popular batsman.
(CNN) -- Waking up Tuesday to the news that my good
friend and former team mate Phil Hughes was in a critical state in
hospital after a blow to the head in a state cricket match made me
instantly realize how fragile life can be.PDP says APC has no meaningful programme for Nigeria
ABUJA- NATIONAL leadership of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday challenged the opposition party, the
All Progressives Congress, APC to a debate where achievements of President
Goodluck Jonathan led government would form the discourse.
According to PDP, the APC which is
the main opposition has no meaningful programme for Nigeria.
The leadership of the party also
insisted that all the forthcoming general elections must hold in the crisis
ridden North-East States in 2015 as scheduled despite the security challenges
in the Zone, just as PDP said that if governors of affected states had woken up
to the task of addressing the challenge of insurgency, the problem would not
have got to this magnitude.
Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states out
of the six states are the front line states and presently under state of
emergency.

CBN warns against naira faking
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Wednesday, began public
enlightenment campaign on the incorporated security features of the
naira, warning counterfeiters to desist from the unwholesome act.
CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who spoke in Abuja where he opened the maiden temporary exhibition of currency museum, said educating the public would enable them identify counterfeited notes.
Represented by the Deputy Governor in charge of the Operations Directorate, Alhaji Suleiman Barau, Emefiele, who spoke on ‘Counterfeit Money: Who Pays? and ‘Non-Interest Banking in Nigeria’, held at the bank’s auditorium, said CBN remains committed to safeguarding the value of the naira by ensuring that banknotes are not susceptible to counterfeiting.
