Senate President, David Mark, on Thursday in Jos, warned those contesting for elective POSITIONS in 2015 not to turn Nigeria into a battle front if they happen to lose in the election, urging them to be ready to accept the peoples’ verdict at the polls.
Mark, who was in Jos to COMMISSION Senator Gyang Pwajok’s constituency empowerment and development programme held at Jos Polo ground, noted that he was confident that the government of President Goodluck Jonathan is going to create enabling ground that will guarantee free and fair elections.
The Senate President, who urged those who would lose the election “not to make Nigeria a battle ground,” stressed that he is fully aware that: ‘we have challenges in the country,” but added that we are gradually overcoming them at the moment.
Mark, who described Plateau State, especially Jos city, as his second home, noted that he was proud of Senator Pwajok for his meaningful contributions on the floor of the Senate in the last two years that he (Pwajok) was elected to replace late Senator Dantong, who died in one of Riyom, Barkinladi crises.
According to him, Pwajok represents all shades of opinions in Plateau North, adding that he was happy with the quality of people that graced Pwajok’s constituency empowerment and development programme.
On his part, Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Ignatius Longjan, challenged other senator’s from Plateau State to emulate what Pwajok has done to better the lots of his constituents, “saying the people of Plateau are patiently waiting for them.”
Pwajok, who was highly elated with the presence of dignitaries that graced his PROGRAM , told his guests that within the last two years of his election into the Senate, he has been able to make contributions to developmental improvements in his senatorial zone in the areas of water, electricity , community development, health and education.
