Army, NASENI to partner on research and devt

The Nigeria Army, through the establishment of the Nigerian Army Systems Development Centre (NASDC), is to partner with National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on how to develop research, build up and deepen engineering innovations for the development of the country.


The Director of NASDC, Brigadier General Emmanuel Whyte, stated this when he led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Director General of NASENI in tement by the Chief Information Officer of NASENI, Segun Ayeoyenikan, said Whyte was at NASENI headquarters to discuss how the two agencies could partner to achieve a common goal of building research capacity via personnel development programme.
According to Whyte, some other areas of collaboration with NASENI include assistance with workshop facilities such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment, Laser engraving machine, establishment of joint research project in area of robotics and Mechatronics, and joint training, as well as joint research schemes for knowledge exchange especially in the area of reverse engineering.
Other areas he solicited partnership also included having joint projects in the area of prototype development, product refining, testing, mass production and marketing.
Whyte also pointed out that NASENI could assist the Centre in setting up its proposed microelectronics development laboratory and facilitate linkage with researchers, inventors, industries, universities and research institutions to enable joint research knowledge transfer
Responding, Vice-Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mohammed Haruna, expressed optimism that a new thing has begun in the journey to industrialise the country as the Nigerian military now avails the nation the opportunities to explore the long years of discipline, research and intelligence deposits in the Army.
