Ex Ghana President Jerry Rawlings with the Black Meteors

Ex Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings visited the Black Meteors ahead of their friendly match against Nigeria on Friday.
The enigmatic former leader has arrived in Uyo to join distinguished personalities to take part in the official opening of the newly-built Akwa Ibom International Stadium.
Former President Rawlings will thus be in the stands when the Ghana U23 side take on Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles in the first game to be played at the 30,000 capacity stadium.

President Rawlings took time off to visit the Black Meteors camp in his bid to inspire the team to go for the win against Nigeria despite it being a mere friendly.
Ghana has an age-long rivalry with Nigeria – which means the stake are always high whenever these two countries compete against each other.
The young Ghana U23 team and its officials also had the opportunity to take lifetime photographs with the former President.
