As efforts intensify to complete all ongoing federal road projects across the country, the Federal Government has called on construction giant, Julius Berger Plc, to look inward and source funds from its home country, Germany, to complete its projects in Nigeria.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Zenner, to his office, Minister of Works, Mike Onolememen, recalled that German-Nigeria relationship dated back to over 40 years.
“No Federal Ministry of Works, No Julius Berger and No Julius Berger, No Federal Ministry of works”.
He, however, praised the efforts of the German company in picking up a concession arrangement for the second Niger Bridge under the Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Onolememen enjoined other German companies to key into concession arrangement by INVESTING in Nigerian economy.
He stressed that the era of A-B-Z business arrangement should be jettisoned while that of financing and Concessioning relationship should be embraced.
Earlier in his speech, Zenner said he arrived in Nigeria about three months ago and that his visit was to show appreciation and to cement the cordial relationship between his country and Nigeria.
The ambassador, therefore, solicited for more collaboration in the area of labour, EMPLOYMENT and other infrastructural development that would engender holistic development in Nigeria through German companies.
