Intolerance, Oshiomhole’s greatest undoing, says Ize-Iyamu

Former chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has taken a swipe at Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over the recent spate of violence in the state, accusing him of political intolerance.
During the week, the governor had accused Ize-Iyamu as one of the masterminds of violence in the state, which he has refuted, describing it as a baseless allegation emanating from Oshiomhole’s political intolerance and loss of focus.
Ize-Iyamu, who, until he defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) early this year, was one of the national leaders of the APC, said rather than handle political crises in the state as a leader, the governor has politicised issues, based on his personal interests.

Ize-Iyamu spoke with Saturday Independent in an exclusive interview.
He said, “I am one of those being targeted for attack, because we have chosen a different platform, based on our conviction, owing to the undemocratic tendency of the governor. Intolerance is one of his greatest undoing. However, I don’t expect him to close his eyes to an attack on a member of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Rasak Momoh, not to talk of justifying it.
“Governor Oshiomhole remains the leader of the state while in office but because he could not tolerate the right of others to choose political affiliation of their choice, he began to clamp down on his perceived enemies that moved to other parties from the APC. God owns my life. No man can take it except the Almighty permits it. When a bomb was evacuated from my wife’s clinic, instead of panicking, we looked onto God, the giver of life.
“Infrastructure in the states are decaying at an abysmal rate; there is open corruption, the state budget was presented and passed within 72 hours; untold hardship is being visited on ordinary citizens and to cap it all we have reckless and unwarranted multiple taxation over-stretching the purse of the people, yet the governor is busy justifying violence.”
Continuing, Ize-Iyamu said, “I have pleaded with Oshiohmole to be like a father to all by relating with all the lawmakers in the state without bias, irrespective of their political parties. Rather, he pitched his tent with the APC lawmakers alone. I am sure, come February, Edo State people will speak with their votes.”
