Nigeria: IBB Returns From Overseas Medical Trip
Minna — Former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has returned from Germany, after two months of receiving medical attention in that country.
Babangida, who expressed his appreciation to Nigerians in general and the people of Niger State in particular, for their concern and prayers throughout the duration of his medical trip abroad, landed at the Minna International Airport at about 2.50pm Saturday.
On hand to receive him at the airport were his eldest son, Mohammed; his youngest daughter, Halimat; one of his grandchildren and some of his close friends and associates, mostly retired military officers.
Journalists, who were at the airport to catch a glimpse of the former Head of State, were barred from taking pictures or have an interview with Babangida as he alighted from the plane and said, "Alihamadulillahi! I am coming up well. I am grateful to all Nigerians," he said.
Others at the airport to receive Babangida are the Minister of Defence, Gen. Aliyu Gusau, Air Vice Marshall Hamza Abdullahi, former FCT Minister, Gen. Halilu Akilu, former Director of Military Intellegence, Col. Habibu Shuaibu, former Niger State Military Administrator, Umar Ndanusa and Sani Ndanusa, former Minister of Sports.
Babangida, who looked refreshed and in high spirits, later told newsmen, "I am feeling better, I want to use this opportunity to appreciate all Nigerians for the goodwill and gestures they expressed during my absence.
"I have been deeply touched by their love and their affection and their prayers. I want to use this medium to thank each and every one of them."
