The National Chairman of Northern Youths Leaders Forum (NYLF), Comrade Eliot Afiyo, has  given the federal government a seven-day ultimatum  to restore the security aides of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

He gave the ultimatum in Yola, Adamawa State, on Sunday, saying if the federal government and its security agencies should fail to restore the security aides to  the speaker’s office, the group had resolved to EMPLOY the services  of former members of the National Guards and former National Strike force.
Afiyo said he was in Yola to make an assessment of the level of damage caused by the Boko Haram insurgents, adding that thousands of his members were displaced by the insurgents.

He frowned at the insurgency situation in the North-east, especially in Mubi, urging the federal government to own up to its primary  responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizenry.
The NYLF leader said NYLF perceived the action of the federal government and security agencies as a disrespect to the office of the Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not Tambuwal as a person, hence the group has resolved to recruit its members that had been well trained as National Guards and National Strike Force, during late General Sani Abacha regime and later abandoned to give security cover to the speaker.

“Tambuwal’s position as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, should not be undermined if at all there was no  grand design to ridicule his person as  punishment for dumping the People  Democratic Party (PDP) for the  All Progressive Congress (APC),” he said.
“My boys have been calling that we should allow them give the Speaker security should the federal government fail to restore the security aides of the speaker in accordance with the court order.

“These boys are well trained, they were  trained during Abacha’s regime as members of National Guards and National Strike Force and I know they can do the job very well but we don’t need to take the laws into our hands, that is why we are calling on the federal government not to give us the reason to do so,” Afiyo said.
