Court remands three for murder during Amosun’s tour

Three persons were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ilaro Chief Magistrate Court and remanded in prison custody over the death of 21-year-old, Olufemi Amosun, during Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s assessment tour of Ilaro, the headquarters of Yewa South local government area of the state.
The suspects according to the charge sheet obtained by journalists are Fatai Lamidi, Muyideen Salaudeen and Oyeyemi Semiu.

In the case with charge number, M/O/156C/2014, the suspects were arraigned before Chief Magistrate, Mrs Fafowora on a six-count charge bothering on murder, illegal possession of firearms and conspiracy, amongst others.
Two chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed during the local government assessment tour of Amosun penultimate week where the victim was allegedly shot while others were REPORTEDLY injured.
The Ogun State Police Command had arrested seven suspects in CONNECTION with the case while firearms including four pump action guns and other dangerous weapons were also recovered from the suspects.
According to the charge sheet, the suspects committed offences contrary to and punishable under sections 324, 319(1), 516(1), 88(1) (a) and 63 of criminal code law of Ogun State, 2006.
On the alleged illegal possession of firearms, the prosecution also said the suspects committed offence contrary to and punishable under section 28(1)(C) of firearms Act Cap R11 law of the federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Due to the nature of the case, the plea was not taken while the case, upon mention, was subsequently adjourned till November 16, 2014.
Meanwhile, the ASSOCIATION of Ohori Baales in Ilaro, has petitioned Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, to assist them in getting justice on the matter.
In a letter dated October 24, 2014, signed by four leaders of the family, it was alleged that one Fatai, popularly known as Ode (Hunter) was responsible for the shooting.
The family further alleged that the suspect and his cohorts stood somewhere close to Empire ground where the governor was addressing people and were pursuing people with guns.
“While running, we saw one Honda Accord (grey colour), with registration number AAA 360 CY coming and one man later known to be Fatai (Ode) stretched out his body from the car holding a gun and started shooting, which resulted to the death of our son, (Oluwafemi Sunday Amosun).
“As this happened, we ran after the vehicle with some vigilante around towards Egbo road and got him. When the man who shot our son realised he had been identified and was about to be lynched, he also gave us the telephone number of the person he alleged to have sent them.
“We handed the man and his partner to the police with gun he used to kill our son. We also recovered other guns and ammunition in the car.
“Please our Oba, we want you to use your POSITION to assist us get justice,” the petition read in part.
