I won’t let Nigerians down, Jonathan pledges

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday picked the expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the 2015 presidential election at the National Headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The president said he could not hide his excitement over the decision of the party to adopt him as the sole candidate for the election and promised not to let the party and Nigerians down if and when he emerges as president at the 2015 presidential election.
He was presented with the forms by the National Organising Secretary of the PDP, Abubakar Mustapha, at exactly 2:19 p.m. at the National Executive Committee (NEC) Hall of the party where the event was held.
Jonathan immediately requested for the issuance of official receipt to confirm the payment of the mandatory N22.5 million for the forms.

Speaking before handling over the forms to the President, Mustapha remarked that the party decided to reserve the form for the president because the party members believed that he (Jonathan) possessed all it takes to take the nation to the next level.

National Chairman of the party, Adamu Muazu, in his own comments eulogised the president for performing excellently well in the term he was completing, just as he expressed strong confidence that the next term of the president would take Nigeria to another level of development.
He faulted those who criticised the party for giving the president the right of first refusal, saying the matter was a family affair of the PDP which does not concern non-party members.
Mu’azu said the PDP knew what it was doing by presenting Jonathan for another term, adding that the party “is sure the president will certainly win because he has done well.”
When called upon to speak after obtaining the forms, President Jonathan thanked all who contributed to the money used in purchasing the form, just as he appreciated the party for giving him the right of first refusal.
He told the party leaders that he has so much confidence in the ability of the party to win election that he would have naturally picked the forms by PAYING for it even if the party had not reserved the ticket for him.
The president promised TO WORK with all Nigerians when he’s re-elected as he noted that he alone cannot change the society.
The president therefore solicited for co-operation of all Nigerians, saying if the nation unites the way it did against Ebola Virus, the challenges bedevilling it can be defeated in no time.
