Nigeria: LCC1 Rules, as Christ Embassy Evangelises Through Football

THEIR dream is to become football stars. And they took giant steps towards actualising that goal last Sunday as the curtains fell on the maiden Christ Embassy football fiesta for their youths in Lagos.
With the theme: Fishing for Christ through football, the youths took to the pitch like ducks to water on October 6 when the first round of the tournament kicked off at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Lagos.
The budding stars then moved to the main-bowl of the stadium for the quarterfinals, drawing remarkably huge interests in all the stages.
After series of amazing football matches in two weeks, the duo of LCC1 Group and LCC2 showed class and were unsurprisingly the two finalists.

Expectedly, both sides in front of a mammoth crowd at the Agege Stadium last Sunday were eager to prove wrong doubters of the immense talents in the GAME in Nigeria, as they exhibited skills that will make professionals green with envy.
At the end of the keenly contested encounter, LCC1 emerged victorious, edging LCC2 6-5 on penalties to earn a comfy corner in the history of the tournament as the first winners.
From the blast of the whistle, LCC1 tried to break down their opponents with waves of attacks in a bid to take an early lead but their efforts were repelled with stoic defending from LCC2 who nearly surprised scored goals of their own through sporadic counter attacks.
Eventually, with both sides unable to find the back of the net after normal and extra time, it was LCC1 Group that mastered their nerves better and won 6-5 on penalties.
Courtesy of their eye-catching performances, LLC1's Adenekan Ladi was voted the Most Valuable Player Award, Itua Osayi was declared the Best Goalkeeper, while Lector Pere emerged the Highest Goal Scorer with 6 goals.
Prior to the epic final, AA Group beat Ifako-Iju in the battle for the third place.
The organisers of the annual tournament have promised to make the event an even bigger one next year.
