Ebola Outbreak Mali confirms new case, Cuban doctor stable

A new case of the Ebola Virus Disease has been confirmed inMali and two more patients are being tested after becoming symptomatic, the country’s government has said via a statement released on Saturday, November 22.

Health officials in the West African country are also monitoring 310 people for signs of infection, the statement added.
According to the statement, the infected patient has been “placed in an isolation center for intensive treatment.”
The situation in Mali has caused panic after a 70-year-old Ebola-infected Imam was wrongly diagnosed for kidney failure leading to five deaths and causing many others to be exposed to the highly contagious disease.
Meanwhile, a Cuban doctor who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone has been flown to Switzerland and is currently in stable condition.
Felix Baez Sarria arrived in Geneva on Thursday, November 20 and is doing much better after 2 days of treatment.
"Today his health status is stable, although he remains in a serious medical condition,” the Geneva University Hospital said on Saturday, November 22.
