Governorship aspirant wants revenue allocation formula reviewed

A governorship aspirant in Delta State, Chief Clement Ofuani, has called for a review of the nation’s revenue allocation formula as the best way to motivate states to be more aggressive in the generation of funds, in the face of dwindling income from crude oil export.
Ofuani, who was the pioneer commissioner for economic planning in Delta State, said this in response to the recent drop in crude oil prices in international market.
Ofuani, who was among the first aspirants from Delta North to collect the PDP nomination form, said the country’s law and policy makers should channel their mental energy towards restructuring the allocation formula, instead of altering the percentage allotted for derivation.

Ofuani said the strict enforcement of the tax system would check tax evasion and tackle the issue of corruption in the country.
On the ward congress, Ofuani said the successful ward delegate congress coming at the heels of the local council election in the state confirms the PDP as the party to beat in 2015.
He, therefore, called on the elected delegates to put the interest of the party and the future of the state far above personal and sectional considerations, as Delta is a state that stands on a tripod, with each district as important as the other and no district has the ability to succeed alone.
