I’m the best man for Delta – Obuh

DELTA State gubernatorial aspirant, Sir Anthony Obuh, has declared that he remains the best and the right man to governs the state from 2015.
He stated this while declaring his gubernatorial ambition on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, saying that he would offer strategic leadership, which would lift the state to a higher level of advancement and development.
Obuh said he is passionate about wealth creation, economic development and wellbeing of Delta people, adding that he would ensure exemplary leadership and promised that democratic governance prevails in the state.

According to him, after consultations, Deltans of all socio-economic, religious and ethnic background want him to partner with them to move the state forward, adding that he would pursue policies and programmes with renewed vigour, deep sense of responsibility and deliver proactively to every nook and cranny of the state.
To this end, he said a bottom-up approach that guarantees responsiveness to the yearnings of the populace would be adopted, which is the hallmark of good governance and leadership just as he commended political leaders in the state for the peace and stability that the people enjoy and for embarking on life transforming projects.
Obuh stated that Delta has witnessed giant strides in infrastructure development, which are aimed at opening up the state and creating further opportunities for economic growth and development. He listed such projects as Asaba International Airport, Ughelli-Asaba dual carriage way, Koko-Ugbenu dual carriage way, Warri Industrial Business Park, road and bridges, model and modern primary and secondary schools, health facilities and hospitals, and programmes in tourism, agric, commerce, sports, etc, anchored on our philosophy of Delta Beyond Oil.
Commending the successes recorded by the previous administrations, he affirmed the need to sustain, consolidate and expand on the gains they recorded, maintaining that a lot has been done, and yet a lot still remains to be done.
“My blueprint on sustainable development of the state is anchored on my set agenda, Service, Empowerment and Transformation, which is all about the core issues of concern to the people of Delta State.
Our policies, programmes and projects would be built around the economic development strategy of Delta Beyond Oil. Its key elements include the building of strategic infrastructure to diversify the economy of the state from oil-dependent to a non-oil dependent economy.
“I have served Delta State through the Civil Service for 32 years and voluntarily retired as Permanent Secretary, Government House and Protocol, with my head high. As expected, the exposure I got in service was considerable. I have been part of governance and the democratic imperatives of how a government is run successfully in our clime.
