Senator David Mark on Monday intervened by offsetting the sum of N6m requested by the Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) from the Benue State government as food subsidy meant to augment the feeding of the children at the ongoing 7th National School Sports Festival tagged Benue 2014 in Otukpo.
The Senate President wife, Helen Mark, was at the NSSF secretariat on Monday afternoon with part payment of N3m promising to settle the balance, Tuesday. She said her husband’s priority was to ensure that the students were well fed and secured, promising that they will pay up the balance of N3m on Tuesday (today) so that the children don’t go hungry.
“I am here because I and my husband feel our priority is security and adequately feeding of the children. We have resolved to pay the N6m requested for by the NSSF from the Benue State government as subsidy for the children’s feeding. We don’t want them to go hungry in our domain,” she said
President of the federation, Ibrahim Muhammad, had lamented that only N1.9m out of the N104m requested for hosting the festival in Otukpo was given to the NSSF by the Senate President with the Benue State government not forthcoming with the token of N6m requested for as food subsidy to feed the children.
