Nigeria: Health Workers Threaten Indefinite Strike

Abuja — Except the federal government intervenes, the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU), a conglomerate of several health care associations in the health sector, said it will carry on with its threat to embark on indefinite strike action starting from Wednesday, November 12.
The National President of National Union of Allied Health Professional (NUAP), Felix Faniran, who is also the Vice President of JOHESU, disclosed this to Journalists in Abuja.
He stressed that the union will go on with the strike if nothing is done.
JOHESU's decision to embark on the strike came as the battle between the JOHESU and the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) on the status of consultancy has finally been laid to rest as the federal government had, on Thursday, formally given the health workers a circular to that effect.
