NSCDC boss declares war on crude oil thieves in Bayelsa

Oil Spill
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr. Ade Abolurin, has declared war on pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves in Bayelsa State.

Abolurin, who was in Bayelsa State on inspection tour of NSCDC equipment and facilities, said the next seven days would be tough for pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves as the NSCDC were battle ready to thwart any criminal activity.
He disclosed that the Bayelsa State NSCDC had acquired tugboats, ordinary boats, surveillance equipment and other gadgets to combat illegal oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism, piracy, oil and telecoms related crimes.
Abolurin said he was in the state to serve quit notice to pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves, as he accused foreigners of carrying out economic sabotage against Nigeria.
“We have come to serve quit notice to vandals. It is not only that Bayelsa is not their homes; they are non-Nigerians and should leave Nigeria to allow peace to reign in the country. In the next seven days, it will be too dangerous for vandals to still continue with the evil ways of life.
“Vandals that refuse to take the quit notice seriously will by themselves die a natural death. As we work and partner with other agencies in the area of synergy particularly with the members of the armed forces and other paramilitary services and stakeholders, I am sure indeed that we have come to see the end of vandalism in this area.”
