Why l want to become Delta Gov, by Emetulu

AFTER months of speculation, the immediate past Commissioner for Energy, Delta State, Charles Emetulu, has indicated interest to run for the 2015 governorship race in the state under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Emetulu submitted his governorship nomination forms at the PDP national secretariat, Wadata House, Abuja, last weekend thus increasing the number of gubernatorial hopeful in the Delta State.

Emetulu, a grassroots politician, is the only commissioner in Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s cabinet, who has resigned to contest the governorship election while others are contesting the state Assembly elections or looking for appointments.
Speaking after the submission of his nomination form, Emetulu said his decision to contest the governorship seat was anchored on the trajectory of public-private sector partnership, rapid industrialisation, tourism promotion and prudent economic management.
Emetulu, whose resignation caused shock among the other aspirants, is said to have an upper hand not only as a result of his popularity and acceptability, but because he is from Ndokwa in Delta North, whose experience at private and public life have been adjudged to be commendable.
While assuring that he would consolidate on the legacy of Uduaghan, particularly the strategic policy of Delta Beyond Oil if given the opportunity to govern the state.
He also explained that agriculture would be developed to yield dividends as the mainstay of the state economy, as the state has the potentials to evolve as the food basket of the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
The governorship hopeful pledged to focus on youth employment and wealth creation through the promotion of small and medium scale businesses, driven by enterprise, talent and self-reliance. Emetulu is from Abi, Ndokwa area of Delta North.
