A mum-of-three has hit the headlines after cancelling Christmas for her young sons.
Lisa Henderson took the drastic step after their boys, Caleb, 11, Davis, 8, and Beckham, 5, were naughty.
The mum from Utah in the US has come in for some heavy criticism after revealing how she made her kids ask "Santa to find someone who needs their presents more" after deciding they were too bold.
But Lisa has defended her move, insisting she’s teaching them that’s its better to give than receive, reports the Irish Mirror.
In a blog entitled 'Why My Husband and I Cancelled Christmas', she explained: "Our kids have been acting so ungrateful lately.
"They expect so much even when their behaviour is extremely disrespectful.
"We gave them good warning, either it was time for their behaviour to change or there would be consequences.
"We patiently worked with them for several months and guess what, very little changed.
"One day after a particularly bad display of entitlement, my husband John said ‘We should just cancel Christmas.’
"And that’s what they did."
But Lisa said the family will still have some Christmas traditions, revealing: "We have not cancelled putting up decorations or any of our other heartwarming traditions.
"But we have cancelled presents, Santa, and stockings.
"Their letters to Santa this year will be asking Santa to find someone who needs their presents more."
The Hendersons are going to spend the MONEY they would have spent on Christmas presents for the boys to buy gifts for other people who are less fortunate.
The family are sending clothes and presents to a village in the Philippines that was hit by Typhoon Haiyan last year.
They have also invited some elderly neighbours who have no relatives and would otherwise be on their own to celebrate Christmas dinner at their house.
The mum has admitted her sons were initially very upset by the decision but she says they have quickly learned to embrace the joy of giving.
She said: "They have reacted by making gifts for each other and sneaking them into each others stockings.
"They are learning exactly what we wanted them to learn, because they are not moping around feeling sorry for themselves.
"They are thinking of others."
And the boys will have still have some gifts to open on Christmas Day as they will be allowed to receive presents from their grandparents.
Lisa’s blog post has caused a storm of reaction from people saying: "Sweetest story ever! I love it! Brought tears to my eyes” to her being branded a “mean” and “lazy parent.”
Lisa said she is surprised by all the negative reaction to her decision saying: "It's not like I took Christmas away from Tiny Tim.
"My kids have good clothes shoes and so many toys they can't keep their playroom clean.
"They are not sad about what we have done."
