Aregbesola grants amnesty to seven prison inmates

Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has granted amnesty to seven prison inmates serving different jail terms in both Ilesa and Ile-Ife prisons in the state.
Aregbesola granted the amnesty following the recommendation of the State Advisory Council for Prerogative of Mercy, headed by the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Wale Afolabi.
The amnesty, according to a statement issued and signed by the Information Officer of the Ministry of Justice, Opeyemi Bello, was in commemoration of the four years anniversary of Governor Aregbesola in the state.

Those granted amnesty are Raimi Isa, serving in Ilesa prison, Aminu Suleman, Ilesa prison, Rasheed Kolawole, Ilesa prison, Nanatunde Kehinde Zainab, Ilesa prison, Adeola Joseph, Ilesa prison, Adeyanju Segun, Ile-Ife prison and Reuben Awpyale, Ile-Ife prison.
The statement said the action of the governor was in accordance with exercising his power under Section 212(1) (a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
“It is also in pursuant to the advice and recommendation of the State Advisory Council for Prerogative of Mercy under the chairmanship of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon. Adewale Afolabi.”
