Ihedioha refutes allegations of malpractices in Imo PDP congress

The Governorship Campaign Organisatio of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has reacted to the allegation and media reports particularly on Hot 99.5 FM station, owned by Senator Chris Anyanwu, accusing the Deputy Speaker of disrupting the conduct of the ad hoc delegate election of the Peoples Democratic Party held on Saturday at Central School, Enyiogugu for Enyiogugu Ward, Aboh Mbaise LGA. Imo State.

Anyanwu, in her allegation had said, ‘Hon. Ihedioha introduced a very new, brazenly criminal twist to party congress. He moved people from Mbutu, Uvuru, Umuhu, Nguru, in Aboh Mbaise LGA to Enyiogugu ward and directed them to queue up to be videoed to the consternation and anger of the natives.’
According to the Director General of the Campaign Organization, Chris Okewluonu, Anyanwu’s allegation is aimed at smearing the reputation of the Deputy Speaker, saying there is no iota of truth whatsoever in the allegation.
“Rather than admitting that her loyalists lost woefully at the polls, she is directing her anger at Chief Ihedioha whose concern, like every other leader, was only to ensure that the exercise was peaceful and hitch-free in accordance with the guidelines of the party”.
In his statement made available to Daily Independent, Okewluonu said that it is imperative to emphasise that due to the size of the council party headquarters, the stakeholders and leadership of the party, including Anyanwu, agreed to use the Central School, Enyiogugu field as the distribution/collation centre for the exercise.
The statement further read, “In compliance with this above decision, all the stakeholders and leaders of the party in Aboh Mbaise LGA assembled from their various wards to observe the distribution of materials.
“The Deputy Speaker had no hand, nor control in the management of the ad hoc delegate election in Enyiogugu as it was primarily and entirely the affairs of the Enyiogugu people and those sent to supervise and conduct the election by party officials.
“It is, therefore, shocking that Senator Chris Anyanwu should vent her anger on the woeful performance of her preferred candidates for the polls on the Deputy Speaker who was merely there to observe the distribution like other leaders.
“The allegation by Senator Anyanwu on the use of SSS, police, thugs and cult members is a figment of her own imagination as it has embarrassed the entire PDP in Enyiogugu ward and Aboh Mbaise in general.
“Senator Anyanwu is better advised to concentrate on winning the governorship primaries in accordance with the party guidelines rather than looking for scapegoats.”
