Lagos governorship: PDP has no plan for consensus candidate-Ogunlewe

The former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, has explained that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has no plan to adopt a consensus candidate for the governorship election in the state.
Ogunlewe, who spoke to Daily Independent on Monday in Lagos, said it is too late to think of a consensus arrangement for the governorship candidate because several of the aspirants have spent a lot of MONEY.

“It is too late now to think of having a consensus candidate because about seven aspirants have already purchased the nomination forms and it is wrong to stop them from participating in the primaries”, he said.
Ogunlewe, who is also the Lagos State Coordinator of Goodluck Jonathan Support Group, further said that he believed the recent statement by President Jonathan that 2015 is the last opportunity for PDP to win the Lagos State governorship and urged President Jonathan to support the effort of the state chapter of the party to win the governorship election in the state.
“My appeal to Mr. President is to support our efforts this time around in our effort to win the governorship election in Lagos State”. Contrary to some believe that the next governorship primaries will create more crisis for the party, the former senator said this time around things will be different.
