Ihedioha, two govs tear-gassed at PDP secretariat

On Friday, overzealous security operatives at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), headquarters in Abuja threw caution to the wind as aspirants queued to submit their expression of interest forms were tear- gassed.
Those affected in the melee include the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, Governor of Kaduna State,  Ramalan Yero, Acting Governor of Taraba State,  Garba Umar, and Senator Abubakar Gada from Sokoto State.
Others were Chairman, House Committee on Health, Ndudi Elemelu, Chairman House Committee on Sports, Godfrey Gaya, Hon. Ibrahim El- Sudi and others.
Supporters were drumming and singing to cheer their aspirants before they incurred the wrath of the angry security personnel.
Saturday Independent learnt that a policemen attached to the PDP headquarters at about 11:25am threw tear-gas at the crowd as they approached the first floor of the building thereby forcing the people to scamper to safety.
There development forced many of the people in tears to exit the building through the back door with their eyes and nostrils covered with handkerchiefs.
Two persons slumped in the process but were quickly rescued out of the scene. Attempt to get some of the party’s officials to comment proved abortive as they refused to speak with our reporter.
