Oyo CJ mourns predecessor, says judiciary lost brilliant judge

The recent death of the former Chief Judge of Oyo State, Mashood Olayiwola Adio has created a big vacuum in the Judiciary, not only in the state, but the nation at large.
This was the remark of Chief Judge of the state, Ladipo Abimbola on Friday in Ibadan at a special valedictory session held at the Oyo State High Court of Justice, MKO Abiola Way (former Ring Road), Ibadan in honour of the deceased.
Abimbola, who lamented that the State Judiciary “has lost one of its finest, quintessential jurists in the death of the former Chief Judge” said Adio had left a big vacuum in the Judiciary, not only in Oyo State, but the nation at large.
According to him, “to us in the Judiciary, we have lost one of our finest and quintessential Jurist. Even though Hon. Justice Adio’s voice can no longer be heard, his unheard voice will resonate in his various judicial pronouncements.

“We have much tears to shed than you can see us shed. Although we have lost one of the brightest stars in the legal horizon, the children have lost a father and the other family members have lost a mentor, yet, his works which we have access to will console us”, the CJ declared.
Other members of the Bar and Bench, who spoke at the event all concurred that the late Adio was a godly public officer who did his best to elevate the standard of the legal profession while alive.
Among those who paid tributes to the late CJ at the event included the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, Ojo Adebayo, the Chairman of the Ibadan Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kazeem Gbadamosi as well as a representative of the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Ibadan Branch, Richard Ogunwale.
The late Mashood Adio, who once served as the Chief Justice of The Gambia and later the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Nigeria, passed on September 28, 2014 at the age of 78 years.
Responding on behalf of the family, the eldest son of the deceased jurist, Seni Adio was full of appreciation to the entire Judiciary, while promising to keep up the good virtues left behind by their benefactor, for posterity.
