Soldiers in fierce battle with Boko Haram in Adamawa

Soldiers1-360x270

Fierce battle yesterday ensued along Gombi-Hong axis of Adamawa State as ‎the military made frantic attempts to recapture the areas, which are situated in the central part of the state from Boko Haram insurgents.

Gombi is about 121 kilometres to Yola, the state capital, hence there are fears and apprehension among the residents that the insurgents may be targeting the state capital.
Sources from the axis did not however confirm the number of casualties from both sides but it was gathered that the encounter was fierce with the militants recording higher number of casualties.
Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Government has imposed restriction on movements in the area to protect residents from being cut in the crossfire between the insurgents and the Nigerian troops.
Director of Press in Adamawa Government House, Mr. P. P. Elisha, said Governor Bala Ngilari took the decision for safety of the residents and innocent motorists.
However, following announcement made by the Federal Government that local hunters must register and be authenticated, residents of Yola yesterday noticed that combined taskforce of soldiers, police, and hunters had reduced in number, which created panic and fears among them.
