History of the Player of the Month award: As Jamie Vardy becomes first from Leicester to win it since 2000, here's how your Premier League club has fared over the years

  •  Jamie Vardy won Leicester's first Player of the Month award for 15 years
  • Steven Gerrard has won the trophy more times than anyone else - six
  • Tottenham forward Jurgen Klinsmann was the first to win in August 1994
  • Frenchmen have won the award 17 times - second most after Englishmen

After banging in five goals in Leicester City's four Premier League games last month, English striker Jamie Vardy picked up the Foxes' first Premier League Player of the Month award for 15 years.
Former England goalkeeper Tim Flowers was the last to do so in September 2000 having only conceded two league goals all season, guiding his team to first in the league with 16 points from eight games, alongside his then-manager Peter Taylor.
Vardy's accolade extends the awards won by forwards to 102, with midfielders winning 73 times, defenders 12, and goalkeepers 8, since the prize's inception in August 1994.
