Arrest of Tambuwal: FG pouring petrol on naked fire – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that the reported plan hatched by the Presidency to arrest House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Tambuwal could trigger a crisis that will be fatal for the nation’s democracy, hence there is the need to jettison the plan out of abundance of caution.
In a statement ,Saturday in Ijebu-ode by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the federal government will be pouring petrol on a naked fired by arresting the Speaker, following the failed attempt to prevent him from accessing the National Assembly to preside over the affairs of the House of Representatives on Thursday, and also in an apparent attempt to halt the current move to impeach the President.

THIS REPUBLIC By Shaka Momodu
Have you heard the news that the Nigerian military, the country’s trained professional force is daily being routed by a ragtag band of terrorists? Have you heard the news that our so called soldiers who swore to defend the territorial integrity of Nigeria flee from ill trained, ill equipped band of murderous terrorists “Boko Haram”, abandoning their weaponry?
Well that’s the news. The entire military institution has continued to embarrass itself in the eyes of the whole world. Our soldiers can no longer fight; they have lost the inclination to fight. They have reversed the military code of conduct- ‘‘obey before complaint.’’ The new order is ‘‘complaints before obey’’.  Our military has come to symbolise all that is wrong with our dear country.

Gracia Machel says Ebola is Africa's wake-up call

Nelson Mandela's widow Graca Machel Friday said the Ebola epidemic should be a wake-up call for African leaders, saying it had exposed the "extreme weakness" of African institutions.

In an address on the impact on business of an epidemic which has claimed more than 5,400 lives in west Africa, Machel said the heavy toll was "unacceptable".
"Ebola has exposed the extreme weaknesses of our institutions as governments, countries which are affected were found totally unprepared," added the South African icon's widow.
"It's time Africa began to give real value to human life, in other words African human lives," she told health sector and business representatives.
"Let's take lessons from this outbreak," she said of the epidemic ravaging Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. "Yesterday it was HIV/AIDS, today it's Ebola, tomorrow it can be something else."
"We can't continue to be unprepared as we are," she said. "We don't seem to have learned from the HIV epidemic."
She insisted Ebola could be defeated with "proper and strong health systems".
The African Union, African Development Bank and regional business leaders earlier this month set up an Ebola crisis fund, almost a year after it was first detected in December last year.

Singer Moneoa reprises role on Rhythm City

AFRO-SOUL singer Moneoa Moshesh-Sowazi has landed the role of Jesse on e.tv's Rhythm City, a role she has played before.

Moshesh-Sowazi was on Clash of the Choirs where she was a choirmaster.
She started shooting last week, and has since dispelled rumours that she would play the "new Sunay" - a re-occurring role played by singer Kelly Khumalo.
This is after Khumalo allegedly "confirmed" she would be joining Rhythm City.
A source close to Khumalo said "she will take up the role next year. The producers wanted to work with her sooner, but she was given time off because of what just happened to her".
Khumalo's baby daddy and former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down at her mother's home in Vosloorus on the East Rand last month.

Florida crowd cheers comedy from embattled Cosby

MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) — As Bill Cosby's standup tour crumbled with cancellations, the embattled entertainer joked about his usual subjects of family, wives and childhood Friday to a cheering audience that greeted him with a standing ovation as he took the stage and another when he finished.

Kelly deserves a good time

SO, EVERYONE had tongues wagging when Kelly Khumalo showed her face without any bags under her eyes at this year's Feather Awards Wednesday night.

Opinions ranged from why she's still not slumped on a mattress somewhere crying her eyes out, to how she is a "straatmeid [loose street woman]" who couldn't let a drinking fest like the Feathers pass her. Oh put a sock in it South Africa!
Madi has a theory.
After it has recently emerged that Senzo has yet another baby mama, if you were Miss Kelly, wouldn't you be furious?
Imagine the smell of rotten egg on her face after proclaiming to the Instagram world how much Senzo loved her, and how he was her soul mate, toothy selfies and all - only to discover that he had been cheating on her all along.
For most women, they can still forgive a cheater. But cheating and leaving evidence of it with a crying brat is another thing.
