Former govs to meet Fayose as Rep donates hospital

Former civilian governors in Ekiti State will today meet at the inauguration of a multimillion naira 32-bed hospital donated by a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Hon. Bimbo Daramola.
Daramola, a member of the House of Representatives representing Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency who is donating the 32-bed hospital to his constituency, described the project as a dream come true.
Three former governors, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi, are expected to join Fayose at Ire-Ekiti where the project would be inaugurated.
The federal legislator said he had long wished to assist his community, which hitherto has no reliable health institution.

The lawmaker, who refused to give the actual worth of the project, said he would hand over the facility to the Anglican Communion to manage.
“I instituted what I called Abo mi re, that is my scorecard. This donation is the flagship of all that I have done for the people of the state since I was sent to the National Assembly.
“Joan Taiwo Daramola Memorial Hospital, Ire-Ekiti, is to be run by the Anglican Church that owns and runs Ile Abiye Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, where I was born nearly five decades ago.
“Political office holders must learn to give back to the society. I have given out a lot of things. Everything I have done in the past may be denied or run out of season, but this one is the flagship and will be in use even when I am dead,” Daramola said.
The APC lawmaker said he decided to name the facility after his mother to immortalise her for her virtue of being concerned with the welfare of the people.
On the claim by some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the House that any member could reconvene the House after it was adjourned by the Speaker, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, Daramola said only the speaker could reconvene the House.
“The House Rule is clear on who can reconvene the House. It is only the Speaker who can instruct the Clerk, having met the principal officers of the House and party leaders.
“Does it mean I, Bimbo Daramola, can just wake up and say I am reconvening the House? Who adjourned the House? You can’t bend the rule,” he said.
