Labour Party lures aspirants in C’ River

Apparently hoping that the primaries of the ruling People’s Democratic Party for various elective positions might throw up challenges that could lead to defections, the Labour Party in the state has offered to provide a credible alternative platform.
Chairman of the party, Mr. Austine Ibok, who made  this allusion on Tuesday in Calabar at the maiden meeting of the State Working Committee, promised to provide a credible alternative for aspirants to various political offices in the state in the 2015 general elections.
The chairman however, said that it would only accept aspirants with the capacity to work for the people.
According to him, the party has concluded plans to embark on massive sensitization of the electorate across the 18 local government areas of the state.


He said, “This is to intimate the people on the programmes of the party as a credible choice to the ruling People’s Democratic Party in the state. This time around we are sure of wining seats in the State House of Assembly, that is, if we do not win the governorship, of the state come 2015.
“The state chapter of our great party is providing credible alternative platform to all Cross Riverians to aspire to any political office come 2015. We are inviting men and women of integrity, people with credibility, capacity, popularity and accessibility to pick up our party’s nomination forms,” he said.
Ibok said the party in the state was currently repositioning, assuring that it would guarantee all aspirants to any position a level playing field.
He said, “Labour Party can guarantee all aspirants a level playing field, internal democracy , equal opportunity, non-imposition of candidate and no god-fatherism or favouristism.’’
